Yevgeniy Shlyakhov, director of the Perm Youth Student Society “Ural-Service”, was awarded with a medal “Hurry to Be Good” of the RF Ombudsman Vladimir Lukin. 

The awarding of those who contributed to the protection of human rights and freedoms took place in Moscow the day before the Human Rights General Declaration Day celebrated on December 10.  Among those who received the award were the following:  Leonid Ternovskiy, roentgenologist, member of Political Abuse of Psychology Investigation Committee; a group of authors of “The History of Stalin’s GULAG:  the end of 1920s – the first half of 1950s” seven-volume edition, and Olga Yegorova, pensioner from Stepankovo village of Vladimir region, whose “active civil attitude” (according to the press-service) “helped to prevent illegal setting up of a waste ground and cutting down 500 hectares of highest-quality wood, which could damage the ecology of the region”.   

Yevgeniy Shlyakhov, our fellow countryman, director of the autonomous non-for-profit organization Perm Youth Student Association “Ural-Service”, was awarded with the medal for his many contributions and valid efforts in developing an active civil attitude among the youth, establishing the Memorial Center for the History of Political Repression “Perm-36” – the only Russian Memorial Complex to commemorate those who suffered from repression.  Press-service of Perm Region Administration reports, that for 20 years Yevgeniy Shlyahkov has been an active member of youth student groups promoting volunteer movement in Prikamie.   “Ural-Service” involves over 500 people who work as student conductors of long-distance trains. 

Another active member of “Ural-Service” Yuri Raschupkin was awarded with a diploma and an honorary order “For Human Rights Protection” of the RF Ombudsman.
