09.02.2006 On February 8, 2006 Perm State Regional Library named after A. Gorkiy will hold a presentation of the digest of the Third Astafiev Readings Contemporary World and Peasant Russia which were conducted in Perm on May 19-21, 2005.
The digest includes scientific reports, literary essays, memoirs, and regional studies articles by 69 authors from 8 regions of Russia. The topics are the following: Poetic Style of V. Astafiev and Contemporary Literary Tendencies, "The Russian System” and Traditions of Peasant Russia, Peasant Russia in Books, Russia’s Peasantry of the 20th Century in Museum and Archival Works. Among those who are expected to attend the presentation are representatives of Perm Region Culture and Art Department, the Memorial Center for the History of Political Repression “Perm -36", the Regional Museum of Local Lore, the Perm State Archives, as well as authors of the digest. Participants will have an opportunity to purchase an exclusive edition of works by Astafiev and other writers-“derevenschiks” (country-style writers).
