THE SECOND ASTAFIEV READINGS
|
 The Memorial center organized and held the Second Astafiev Readings in May 2003. The event attracted much more participants this time due to an active interest of the deputy governor T. Margolina and with the financial support of the Perm region administration Department of Culture and Art.
Among the participants of the Readings there were the writer’s relatives and close friends – literary men, critics, art workers as well as researchers from different Russian cities. The public of the Readings and the discussed topics were not provincial any more.
The writer’s literary museum was inaugurated in Tchusovoi close to the date of the Readings. At first it was located in a small house of the Astafievs. During the Readings Perm unveiled a memorial plaque.
Among Astafiev’s close friends, who attended the second readings near the writer’s house in Tchusovoi, were V. Kurbatov (critic, the secretary of the Writers’ Union of Russia), G. Sapronov (publisher), L. Anninskiy (critic), A. Gremitskaya (editor), Y. Kolobov (conductor, founder and director of Moscow theater “New opera”).
